On the outside, my engineering and consulting career was a smashing success: promotions, status, and more income than anyone would need. But the money and success felt so empty. Beneath the accomplishment was a nagging feeling I couldn’t shake - if our daily work wasn’t making the world a better place, and it wasn’t helping the lives of those we touch – what’s the point?
We started The Wind with just 3 guest-rooms in a single building – but it was the start of something that would overtake our lives. Two years later I quit my day-job to focus on growing The Wind full-time, and our whole family got behind it as well – dedicating their time and passion towards building this dream from scratch. Best of all, we finally had the answer - what better way to touch as many lives as possible than by sharing beauty, enjoyable moments, and a great workplace through a Boutique Resort?
When our motivations are driven by the desire to touch people's lives, I’ve since discovered our guests can feel the difference here too. Most visitors remark our rooms, gardens, and the experience itself has been created with attention to detail that only a personal passion could provide, and the result is a great experience during their stay. The personal touch has become something our entire team is proud to show off and is something the larger mega-resorts (driven by shareholder value and maximizing profits) cannot match.
We’re also excited to allow you, our guest, the same opportunity of helping touch others' lives through simply choosing to stay at The Wind. All staff at The Wind receive a salary and benefits package well beyond what could normally be achieved because we believe corporate success is futile unless it also creates a meaningful difference in the lives of our team.
This allows each staff member to improve their quality of life, educate their children, and advance their standing.
In addition, we hire based upon attitude (over experience), which offers a fresh opportunity to many people who would otherwise be trapped in a low-grade position without a chance to progress.
